Travel

Getting to Ireland: You should fly into Dublin airport (Dub). Flying from anywhere in Europe ought to be relatively easy: several airlines serve Dublin, many of them inexpensive. Flying from the United States is more complicated. The least expensive fare currently available is American Airlines from Chicago non-stop to Dublin. There is a more expensive Aer Lingus flight available from JFK. All other flights seem to require a stop -- in Paris for AirFrance, at Heathrow for British Airways, to Chicago for USAirways, to Newark for Continental, through Zurich and/or London for Lufthansa. (If anyone discovers another route, please contact Wade Robison so that the information may be added to this page.)

Getting to Dublin: There are several useful sites for information about how to get from Dublin Airport to city center, Dublin. The best seems to be that provided by Dublin Tourist. Here is a map that shows the relation of the airport to the City Center. The Milltown Institute is south of the City Center (see below).

Getting to Milltown: Milltown Institute is on Sandford Road, Dublin 6. This map shows its location vis-a-vis Sandford Road and Milltown Road. This Google map shows its general location vis-ai-vis the City Center. (You should click the box with the arrow that comes up in the map to get rid of it. Once it is gone, you can see that the corner of Sandford Road and Milltown Road is south of the city center. Note that the green arrow on this map is to the north of the Institute and does not point directly to the corner of Sandford and Milltown roads.) You can also go to the Dublin Tourist bureau site to see an interactive map of Dublin.

The Institute is well served by bus lines from the city center -- numbers 11, 11a, 11b, 44, 44b, 44c, 48a, 86 and Cowper LUAS station, according to the first map above.
