Faculty Governance
I.E. Academic Conduct Committee
- The Institute's Policies and Procedures at D17 require each college to have an Academic Conduct Committee as part of a process to resolve disputes between students and faculty. The policy specifies procedures for bringing charges, the nature of a hearing, and an appeals process. The policy allows each college to adopt procedures consistent with Institute policy. The College thus creates an Academic Conduct Committee as a standing Committee of the College, composed of three faculty elected for staggered three-year terms and three students selected by the Dean for a one-year term from the degree program students.
- A party submitting a case for the Committee's consideration shall do so by the end of the quarter after the quarter of the alleged occurrence. The Committee shall act with all deliberate speed, its decisions determined by a simple majority, except, where is a tie, the chair's vote shall be decisive.
- Any member of the Committee who is a party to the case is disqualified from participating in the proceedings, and the Committee shall appoint another faculty member or student to take that person's place.
- The Committee shall record the proceedings and deposit those in the dean's office, to be kept in strict confidence for the duration of one calendar year from the date of disposition, after which time they shall be destroyed.
