III.F Faculty Election Procedures
- All full-time faculty are entitled to vote.
- Only tenured and tenure-track faculty are eligible to serve on the Academic Senate and its Standing Committees, Institute Council, and College committees. Faculty members typically shall serve on no more than two standng and/or ad hoc committees in any year.
- Departments or individual members of the faculty may nominate any eligible member of the faculty for committees except that only tenured faculty may serve on the College Tenure and Promotion Committees and the Resource Allocation and Budget Committee of the Academic Senate.
- In accordance with Institute policy, the elected representatives to the Academic Senate shall be the nominees for the election of the Institute Council representative.
- All elections shall be conducted in a timely manner by paper ballots, with fixed deadlines, in accordance with the specifications and timelines given in the respective policies governing the bodies in question. Each ballot will specify the continuing elected members, if any, of that committee.
- A plurality of the ballots cast is required for election.
- Departments shall elect departmental representatives to committees. The Election Committee shall conduct all other elections. The Election Committee shall be composed of two members, elected to staggered two-year terms.
- The members of the Election Committee shall serve as tellers for all elections it conducts except that, for Election Committee elections, the Institute Council representative shall serve as teller.
