The RIT Music Program has several designated Music Rooms on campus. They are located in the basement of Liberal Arts Hall (Building 06), and in the basement of the Student Alumni Union (Building 04).
All applied music lessons are conducted in the Music Rooms in the basement of Liberal Arts Hall (A260, A264, and A269), or at a location agreed upon between the instructor and student.
All official RIT performance ensembles rehearse in the Music Rooms in the basement of the Student Alumni Union (A120 and A130). The weekly rehearsal schedule for all RIT Music Rooms is set at the beginning of each semester and adjusted on a case by case basis at the discretion of the department Chair.
RIT students, faculty, or staff wanting to enquire about the availability of any of the RIT Music Program Music Rooms on campus, please contact the Staff Assistant for the Performing Arts and Visual Culture Department, Ben Willmott.
Students looking to practice on an individual basis are strongly encouraged to utilize the practice rooms on the perimeter of A130 during the regularly scheduled practice room hours. During these hours, a Music Room Attendee will be stationed at the door to greet guests, answer any questions, and sign in/out students practicing. Practice rooms are available on a first come first served basis. To obtain the current hours of the A130 practice rooms, please contact the Staff Assistant for the Performing Arts and Visual Culture Department, Ben Willmott.
If students have a larger ensemble with which they would like to rehearse, they may contact the Staff Assistant to check availability of the other, more spacious, Music Rooms.
Please note that all RIT Music Rooms are for the sole use of current RIT students, faculty, and staff, with preference given to students currently enrolled in the RIT Music Program academic programs. Exceptions may be considered on a case by case basis.
