A Liberal Arts Immersion is a cohesive set of three upper-level courses (12 credits) approved by the faculty for use in meeting RIT's general education requirements. Immersions may be disciplinary or interdisciplinary, and some may require prerequisite course work. Immersions build on the broad appreciation of liberal arts and sciences that students have gained through Perspective courses.

A Liberal Arts Minor is a cohesive set of five upper-level courses (18 credits) approved by the faculty for use in meeting RIT's general education requirements. A minor allows students to develop a secondary area of interest and expertise. Often, this leads to lifelong engagement with an area that enriches lives beyond their major.
