Knight Speaker Series: Featured Speaker-Christopher Zuba-Skees, Center for Public Integrity. "News Visuals, Data and Code"

Sponsors: Digital Jourmalism Incubator funded by the Knight FoundationThe Web, and the ubiquity of data, has changed reporting techniques, the form of stories and the relationship between people and the news. Chris Zubak-Skees has seen the transformation firsthand, contributing to projects which tell stories in new ways, including the Pulitzer-winning "Burdened and Breathless," which allowed readers to compare thousands of X-ray readings at a glance, and "China Leaks," which detailed the overseas companies of Chinese elite.Zubak-Skees is a coder and journalist. As news developer at the Center for Public Integrity, he communicates investigative reporting through data-driven apps and graphics. Projects he contributed to have won Loeb, Goldsmith, EPPY and Malofiej awards. A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, he previously worked as a reporting fellow at the Sunlight Foundation, and got his start in journalism at Reporter Magazine.On Dec. 1 at 4pm in 01-2000 Eastman Hall, Chris will discuss "News Visuals, Data and Code."
