Evan Selinger, Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the Rochester Institute of Technology, received his Ph.D. in Philosophy at Stony Brook University in 2003. His research focuses on phenomenology and the philosophies of technology and science. Recent publications include several edited and co-edited books: Chasing Technoscience: Matrix for Materiality (Indiana University Press, 2003), The Philosophy of Expertise (Columbia University Press, 2006), Postphenomenology: A Critical Companion to Ihde (SUNY Press, 2006), Five Questions in Philosophy of Technology (Automatic/VIP Press, 2007), New Waves in Philosophy of Technology (Ashgate, forthcoming), and Rethinking Theories and Practices of Imaging (Penn State University Press, forthcoming). He has also authored or co-authored several articles, including pieces in Continental Philosophy Review, Critical Review, Philosophy Today, Journal of Practical Philosophy, Human Studies, Janus Head, Phenomenology and the Cognitive Sciences, Philosophy and Public Policy Quarterly, Public Affairs Quarterly, Studies in the History and Philosophy of Science, Synthese, and The Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Artificial Intelligence. He co-directed the conference “Rethinking Theories and Practices of Imaging”, contributes regularly to The Quarterly Review of Biology, and is the Book Review Editor for Human Studies: A Journal for Philosophy and the Social Sciences. Presently, he is writing a monograph entitled Embodying Technoscience (forthcoming, VIP Press), and will begin a book length project on globalization and technology transfer shortly after. |
