Catherine Curione
Katie is from Sanborn, NY which is between Lockport and Niagara Falls. Katie got her Bachelors Degree at the University of Buffalo. She chose to come to RIT because of their practicum experiences. Katie likes being able to work with great people here at RIT. In her spare time she likes to go to the movies. Her favorite quote is “Laughter is the shortest distance between two people.”
Danielle Malinowski
Danielle is from Niagara Falls and graduated from the University of Dayton in Ohio. She chose RIT because of the practicums and is enjoying all the hands on experience she is getting through them. In her spare time, Danielle likes to watch TV (her favorite show is The OC) or hang out with friends.
Janette Russell
Janette is from Honeoye Falls, NY and graduated from SUNY Geneseo. Janette chose RIT because it was close to home. Her favorite part of the program is practicum. In her spare time, Janette likes to spend time with friends. Her favorite singer is Tori Amos.
Katharine Warsinske
Katie is from Seattle, WA and graduated from Washington State University. She chose RIT because of the School Psychology and Deafness program. Her favorite part of graduate school so far is all the new friends she has made. In her spare time she likes to watch TV such as ER and Resident Life and listen to music. Her favorite band is Depeche Mode.
Kecia Boncek
Kecia is from Williamsville, NY and graduated from SUNY Geneseo. She chose RIT because of its School Psychology and Deafness program. Her favorite part thus far is the practicum experience. In her free time she likes to watch TV such as Judging Amy.
Kylie Vaughn
Kylie is a part time student who grew up in Rochester and got her BS at St. Bonaventure University. Kylie currently works for the Mt. Hope Family Center. Although she isn’t doing a practicum this year, she is looking forward to it next year. In her spare time, Kylie likes to spend time outdoors such as hiking and going to music concerts.
Lyndon Mitchell
Lyndon is from Trinidad and graduated from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. Lyndon chose RIT because of the opportunity to do some photography and so far finds the classes very interesting. Lyndon likes to listen to music in his spare time and likes singers such as Janet Jackson and D’Angelo. He also likes to watch TV and his favorite shows are Law and Order, Punk’d and Friends.
Melissa Wacker
Melissa is from Greece, NY and graduated from SUNY Fredonia. Melissa chose RIT because of its reputation as well as it’s proximity to her home. So far, Melissa is really enjoying her practicum experience. In her spare time she likes to go out with friends. Her favorite quote is “Whoever is happy will make others happy too,” by Anne Frank.
Michele Shay
Michele is originally from Rochester, but moved to California as a child. She graduated from the University of California in San Diego. She moved back to Rochester to go to RIT because of its good reputation. So far, Michele enjoys the practicum experiences. When she has any spare time, Michele likes to go to cultural festivals.
Steve Verstraete
Steve is from Williamson, NY and graduated from SUNY Fredonia. As a freshman, Steve attended RIT for engineering and therefore knew RIT for their “high standards and focus on real world experience in learning.” Steve likes to play the guitar (mostly blues) in his spare time. Music is a big part of his life and he listens to just about everything.
Susanne Nowatzki
Susanne is from upstate New York and attended SUNY Fredonia and Cazenovia College. She chose RIT because of it’s reputation of being a good program. She likes the hands on training of RIT. In her spare time she likes to hike, have dinner, and spend time with friends. Her favorite movies are the Lord of the Rings Triology.
Therese Lawson
Teri is from Rochester and graduated from Nazareth College. Teri likes the fact that the School Psychology program has a lot of practicums as well as the small class sizes. In her free time, Teri likes to go skiing and skating. Currently, her favorite movie is The Bourne Identity.
Valerie Mergler
Val is from Rochester, although her parents moved to Georgia while she was an undergraduate at the University of Dayton. Val’s favorite part of the program is getting to live in Rochester again. Val’s favorite technical quote from Assessment I refers to snoopers! “The third major principle in the maintenance of pupil records is that the records should be protected from snoopers. . .” (Ysseldyke). Val also enjoys traveling and her favorite TV show is “Friends.”
