Meet the Class of 2008!

Hi my name is Emily Lewandowski and I am from Webster, NY.  I attended Oswego State for my undergrad and received a degree in Cognitive Science and Psychology.  I choose the program at RIT because I like the practicum experience that the program provided.

My name is Laura Nemcek and I am originally from Endicott, NY.  I moved to Rochester as an undergraduate, and attended Nazareth College.  At Nazareth I majored in psychology, and
received a Bachelor of Arts degree.  I actually applied to many graduate
programs for school psychology.  I ended up choosing to attend RIT because I
judged the program to be very well-rounded and comprehensive, and I was
interested in the number and diversity of the practicum placements offered by
RIT.

My name is Cathy Lesio and I am from Webster, NY and have lived in the Rochester area all of my life.  I attended undergrad at Nazareth College, where I got my BA in Psychology and
received four New York State Education Certifications (making me able to teach grades 1-9 traditional and special education).  I came to RIT because the faculty was inviting, the program was what I was looking for, and the location was close enough to my family and friends!

My name is Kim Davis and I am originally from Derby, NY (a small town south of Buffalo). I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology from SUNY Geneseo where I minored in Biology. I chose to attend RIT because of the number of practicum experiences offered and the welcoming atmosphere I found when I interviewed.

My name is Cara Stromberg and I am from Rochester, NY.  I graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a BA in psychology.  I also minored in anthropology.  In the past, I have worked at BOCES #1 and Hillside Childrens Center.  I have also worked as a paraprofessional in the Brighton Central School District.  I chose RIT because of its reputation and its emphasis on applied learning in the practicum and internship settings.  I also like that RIT affords its students the opportunity to do their practicum in a rural, urban, or suburban placement.

Hi, my name is Rebecca Mowell and I'm from Des Moines, Iowa.  I completed my undergraduate work at RIT receiving a BS in Psychology.  I, also, minored in Criminal Justice, with a professional concentration in Information Technology.  I chose to continue my college education at RIT because I had already taken a few courses in the past two years (undergraduate & part-time) and I was pleased with the curriculum.

My name is Sandra Schwartz. I am originally from Jamestown, NY, but I attended Ithaca College for my undergrad years. I majored in psychology and had a minor in speech communication. I chose RIT because I had heard amazing things about the program in the past, especially the Practicum experience. I also really like the Rochester area.
My name is Valerie Pannoni.  I am from Rochester, NY and I attended RIT for my undergraduate degree in Psychology as well.  I chose to attend RIT to obtain my Master's degree because I liked that it offered an advanced certificate and that you started in a practicum site right from the beginning.
Hi everyone!  My name is Erin Wright and I am originally from Geneseo, NY.  I went to St. John Fisher here in Rochester for my undergrad where I received a BS in Psychology.  I chose RIT because I definitely wanted to stay in the Rochester area to be close to family and friends, and because I loved the layout of the program.

My name is Loni Coleman and I am from Rochester, NY.  I graduated from SUNY
Geneseo in May, 2004 with a BA in Psychology and minors in Sociology and
Human Development.  I am excited to now be studying School Psychology at
RIT.  RIT was my school of choice because I had heard great things about the
accredited program and also hope to network with the schools and faculty in
the greater Rochester area that I work with during the program.

My name is Christopher Singer and I am originally from Webster, NY.  I received a BA in Psychology and a BS in Business Administration from SUNY Geneseo.  I chose RIT’s School Psychology program because the location and high quality of the program.
I'm Alexandra Popa and am from Penfield, NY.  I graduated from RIT in 2005 and returned to join the School Psychology program.  As an undergraduate my major was psychology with a track in biopsychology.  I minored in criminal justice and biology.  I decided to come to RIT because I liked the way the program was set up; current students also had positive things to say about it.  I also liked that program included weekly practicum experience from the beginning.
My name is Adrienne Zonneville and I am originally from Shortsville, NY.  I received a Bachelors degree from The University at Albany in 2004, where I majored in Psychology and minored in Sociology and Education.  I chose RIT's School Psychology program because I liked the way it was designed and the number of practicum experiences that were offered.

My name is Evan Townsend and I am originally from Greece, NY.  I attended Nazareth College of Rochester, NY and was granted a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Gerontology in the spring of 2005.  Throughout my undergraduate studies and continuing into my graduate work, I have devoted my time to extracurricular employment in working with children suffering from pervasive developmental disabilities, specifically autism.  During my undergraduate education, I completed two semesters of internships working for Monroe Community Hospital in the OT, PT and Speech/language pathology centers, providing me with the opportunity for professional development.

Hi!  My name is Jennifer Leone and I am originally from Fredonia, NY.  I attended SUNY Fredonia and received a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Political Science.  I chose RIT for several reasons.  The location was very appealing to me.  RIT is not a far drive from home and it is located in a city that has a lot to offer as far as fun and diversity goes.  I took interest in RIT’s School Psychology program because it has more of an applied learning focus than other school psychology programs that I looked at.  I really liked how RIT’s School Psychology program got its students right into the schools.
My name is Annmarie Schimmel and I am from Hilton, NY. I graduated from Nazareth College of Rochester in May of 2005 with my BA in Psychology and a minor in professional communications and informational design. I chose RIT's school psychology program because I liked the emphasis that was placed on the practicum and the third year of internship. I think that practical experience is really important not only towards getting a job in the future but also for being able to apply what we are learning right now.

My name is Casey Lewis and I’m from Rochester, (specifically Irondequoit,) and graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 2004 with a major in Psychology and a major in Business Administration.  I chose RIT’s School Psych program because it was focused on applied learning, and because we were able to start practicum in our first year.  It was close to home! J

Hello.  My name is Lindsey Calabrese and I am a first year graduate student in the School Psychology program at RIT.  I am from Buffalo, NY and I graduated from SUNY at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology.  During my time as an undergraduate I interned as a mentor for high school students, spent a summer working with autistic pre-school children, and coached Varsity cheerleading.  I chose RIT because it is fully accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists and also because I saw that I would receive hands-on experience working side-by-side with a School Psychologist right from the beginning!  In addition, RIT class scheduling is flexible enough that I could balance a part-time job throughout the school year.
