CLASS OF 09' SPRING UPDATES!
Annie Coseo
I am currently at Wilson Magnet High School in Rochester, New York. This is completely different from my last placement which was at a suburban elementary school. I am learning so much at this city high school. I have been able to observe many different classes, from special education to Advanced Placement, and have started a counseling case. My thesis area is in reading, and although I have not picked a topic yet I am leaning toward reading fluency and how it relates to reading comprehension. I also wish to look at peer assisted tutoring and how it may relate to reading comprehension in first grade. As of right now, there are many possibilities!

My practicum placement is currently with the Holley Central School District. Holley is a rural setting and I am getting a well-rounded experience with multiple grade levels as I split my days between the elementary school and the junior/senior high school. At Holley, I have been conducting my own social skills group, serving as a mentor and doing lots of achievement and cognitive testing! My research is with Dr. Merydith and I will be examining the effects of relational aggression on victims by conducting a qualitative study.
Annalise Johnson
I am currently placed at Spencerport High School with Peter Montenaro. My thesis adviser is Dr. Merydith, and the subject of my thesis is the transition process from high school to work/post secondary education for students with disabilities.
Jennifer McCracken
My current placement is in the West Irondequoit School District, traveling between 4 elementary/middle schools. I am working with Dr. Graney for my thesis, but I am still undecided on what my specific topic will be. I would like to look at the relationship between a teaching aspect and its influence on students' reading outcomes such as reading fluency.
Marla Mis
I am currently placed at Midlakes Intermediate School for my practicum site in Clifton Springs. Thus far it has been a new and exciting experience. I have individual counseling cases with 7 different students, which keeps me very busy! In addition, I have had the chance to do both achievement and intellectual testing at my site. My thesis topic, which is still in the works, will investigate transitioning and post-secondary planning for high-school students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Stephanie Reusch
My current placement is in the Avon Central School District (where I work primarily in the high school). I have recently started individual counseling, co-facilitating groups, and doing some achievement testing on my own. So far it has been a great experience! I look forward to taking on new responsibilities in the Fall. Under the advisement of Dr. Merydith, I have also begun working on my thesis. Generally speaking, I plan to look at self-reports of personality in relation to adolescents' drug and alcohol abuse.
Alison Senter
I am currently at Canandaigua Primary School. So far I have done a lot of testing and I am starting some counseling on my own. It has been a great transition from the RCSD. For my thesis, I am working under Dr. Lukomski and am studying positive psychology and developmental assets.
Melissa Zywoncinski
My current practicum placement is in the Rochester City School District at Roberto Clemente School #8. School #8 is a pre-Kindergarten to 6th grade placement. I am getting the opportunity to use a lot of the skills I have learned in class, from testing to counseling. It has been a great experience! Dr. Pandolfi is my thesis adviser and though I am still narrowing down my topic, I plan on focusing on the comorbidity of autism spectrum disorders and anxiety.
