Study Abroad
RIT encourages all students in all majors to consider the possibility of adding an international dimension to your education and at the same time fulfill some Liberal Arts course requirements.
The stimulation of studying and living in another culture will provide an incomparable opportunity for students to not only expand their knowledge of that culture, but also to prepare better for work in an increasingly globalized economy. Indeed, one of the stated goals of the College of Liberal Arts curriculum is to make students aware of other cultures. What better way is there to achieve this goal than to immerse oneself in another culture, while at the same time completing a degree requirement!
RIT has a number of affiliated programs, chiefly Arcadia University and Syracuse University. These opportunities are especially attractive because credits earned will transfer in to fulfill approved requirements in the Liberal Arts curriculum. Other affiliated programs include Queens University, New York University, Denmark International Studies Program, The School for Field Studies (programs in Kenya, Mexico, Costa Rica, Australia, Turks & Caicos), and Kanazawa Institute of Technology in Japan. We also offer RIT summer programs in Croatia, Italy and Germany. The total cost of participating in this program is frequently just about the same as RIT room, board and tuition - sometimes less. For more information on study abroad programs, review the RIT Study Abroad Program. Stop by the Office of Student Services to discuss how study abroad can add an international dimension to your program and satisfy Liberal Arts course requirements.
