9/11 memorial

In Helmer’s chapter he talks about Sylvan Barnett (analyses fine art). I liked how he describes art “you see more than with our eyes”. We get emotions and memories. This picture describes this 100%. If you see the picture itself you just see tiny flags in the grass. If you see more than with your eyes you think about the memorial RIT is doing for 9/11. This picture creates different kinds of memories. Some might think of a lost family member or friend, some about the tragic event. This picture also creates emotions. I feel a terrifying emotion when I see this and go back to thinking what had happened.

I remember seeing this on Friday and I thought it was such a great image of all of the flags. The visual was so overwhelming that the lawn seemed extremely sacred as if I had to take my shoes off. Great picture.
