addicted to twitter

In Tufte ‘s article, he quoted “Imagine a widely used and expensive prescription drug that promised to make us beautiful but didn’t. Instead the drug had frequent, serious side effects: it included stupidity, turned everyone into bores, wasted time, and degraded the quality and credibility of communication.” There are some media that does degrades out ability to have excellent communication skills. However, there are some mediums that is great for staying updated with what is happening daily. Twitter is one of them. Twitter is one of the best mediums for social media.

The picture that I used was taken not too long ago, and it shows that twitter is used constantly by millions of people everyday. Twitter is very addictive. I am addicted to twitter, I use it daily and I can not give it up.┬áThe reason why it is so addictive is that you can write about anything on your mind, and there are shortcuts in the language. For example, #SOA stands for sons of anarchy, a tv show on FX channel. When the show is on, people are sending tweets every minute relating to what is happening on the show. When VMA’s premiered, it got over 5 million tweets during the live show.

Sometimes, people do post tweets that are stupid and unnecessary. People can cross the line on twitter, and it is not right for people to write those kinds of tweets. That is the part that causes people on Twitter to be stupid. People gets too comfortable on twitter and it can feel like your comfort zone to post about anything you want to write.

Annette, I agree with you 100%. I believe that people post up unnecessary comments. In my opinion, what is the point of having twitter? People does not need to know what others are doing. Once again, I agree twitter is becoming more stupid as people use it for entertainment.

I agree that Twitter is one of the most highly effective forms of social media, especially from a marketing or PR aspect. And I also agree that the ability to reach out to millions of people is really a privilege and should not be abused.
