collecting across a lifetime
This is an image of my grandmothers favorite display case, full of Precious Moments figurines, Hummels, commemorative plates and Disney memorabilia. As Dickinson et al suggest, “to be collected means to be valued” (89). She has spent her life collecting, and these are the things she values, topped with her parents’ pictures. They tell her story, and put her memories into things that are tangible. There are displays throughout her home, but this is the most extensive and diverse.
