Ethnic education

These are a couple of my daughter’s toys as she is a huge fan of “Tinker Bell” and also loves her fairy friends.  She also has to watch “Dora” and “Ni Hao Kai Lan” as well.  Is it any wonder that she would also want the toys? I don’t think so.  The shows where some of these characters are created are designed to teach young children the basics of certain foreign languages as well as an amateur exposure to cultural experience.  While the banning of the “flesh” crayon as well as other ill titled crayons have been appropriately enforced, the marketing of characters that reflect different ethnic groups and foreign languages in my opinion peak a child’s curiosity as well as broaden their imagination.
