About Service Science and Innovation at RIT

Service has grown to be the dominate sector in our economy and a similar transition is occurring globally.  Innovation is service comes in many forms from new service offerings to new business models.

Innovations are created by all kinds of companies from small startups to large, multinational corporations.  And it takes place across industries including energy services, financial services, health care services and IT services.

The diversity of organizations, the forms that innovation takes and the growing role of technology in services is a natural fit to the RIT mission of providing "a broad range of career-oriented educational programs with the goal of producing innovative, creative graduates who are well-prepared for their chosen careers in a global society".

The goals of Service Science and Innovation at RIT are

  • Bring together participants from industry and academia to share experience, goals and challenges in service and  innovation
  • Provide insight into best practices and challenges being confronted
  • Identify the skills required to create and support innovation
  • Foster  research agenda actively supported by industry will actively and financially support
