Program Highlights

The Center for Bioscience Education and Technology welcomed 40 middle schoolers to the RIT campus for five weeks of hands-on, inquiry-driven bioscience camp activity under the titles Living Things, What do Cells have to do with Gels, Is there a chimpanzee in the family tree, Where do they get their energy, and What can we do with DNA.

Listed below are comments from our campers and pictures of their many activities. We’ve also included comments from our instructor and parents. We invite you to take a look and send us your comments at cbet@rit.edu.

What campers told us:

Educational and fun.

You should go, it's really fun.

It's like school, only way more fun.

An interesting and fun way to learn about biology.

A fantastic opportunity for kids who love science and nature.

For everything we learned we usually did an activity.

It's really cool.

What our instructor told us:

.. It is clear that they (the campers) really enjoy it and that they are learning throughout the week. This is exactly what I am trying to do, to create a camp where young people are having fun exploring the living world around them.

What parents said:

... Sidney benefited from the Science camp this summer by applying the newly acquired knowledge to his class work. He was thrilled to have a class on a college campus and he is looking forward to another experience next summer.
