Deparmental Research
The faculty of the Department of Chemistry are involved in chemical
research and activly encourage undergraduate students to work with them on their research projects. Some students
begin as early as their second year in the program.
Chemistry research with a faculty mentor is a rewarding experience that is not afforded undergraduates at many
Universities.
The Department of Chemistry at RIT prides itself in involving undergraduate students in chemistry research.
Working closely with a faculty mentor, making new discoveries at the frontiers of chemistry, has its rewards.
Chemistry research gives students laboratory experience and training that complements classroom instruction.
This experience buildsconfidence and prepairs students for graduate school and the chemical industry.
In addition to the research experience, many students become co-authors on scientific papers either published
in the the chemistry journals or presented at local and national chemistry conferences.
