Dr. West earned his BS in biochemistry and BA in philosophy at the University of Minnesota Duluth (1999). After two years of pursuing a PhD in philosophy at Syracuse University, he changed his field of study to physics. He earned his PhD in theoretical cosmology from Syracuse University in 2010. During his PhD he worked on various topics in cosmology and high-energy physics, including preheating and reheating at the end of inflation, anisotropic cosmologies, and theories with extra spatial dimensions.

Research Interests

Early universe cosmology, topological defects, gauge theories of gravity, extra dimensions.
