Undergraduate Research and Mentoring How to Apply

Application Deadline:  : 2010 TBD


Applications for the NSF-URM Fellowship include:

  1. The application form with signatures
  2.   A personal statement (1-2 pages) discussing your scientific interests, career goals, why this fellowship would benefit you, etc.
  3. A research proposal (2-3 pages) with the following headings:
    • Introduction (background and significance of the topic, including citations from the literature)
    •  Research Question (should be succinct)
    • Overall Research Plan (include methods you will use for data gathering and analysis)
    • References
  4. A copy of your transcript (a print out from SIS is sufficient)
  • Turn in a paper copy of the application with signatures and a copy of your transcript to Nicki Bruno-Collins (Biology Department office, 08-2102).
  • Have your mentor upload an electronic version of the application to the NSF-URM Fellowship myCourses website (under “committees”).
  • Contact Dr. Sweet (hxssbi@rit.edu) to schedule a 30-minute interview
