Virology
Virus-host interactions; regulation of gene expression during viral infection.
Potential Research Project
Vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) infection causes NF-kB activation in the host, but the mechanism of this response is unclear. Previous work suggests that the M protein of VSV is involved. To determine whether the M protein alone is responsible for NF-kB regulation, gene expression in cell extracts will be examined after transfection with wild type and mutant M genes in the absence of other viral proteins.
