Undergraduate Research and Mentoring Progress Reports

A quarterly progress report (1-2 pages) is due by noon on the Friday of the first week of the new quarter. Each progress report should be added on to the end of the original research proposal (and prior progress reports), thus building a document that keeps track of the quarterly goals and progress made toward those goals. Data should be included in the form of tables and figures. Each student should write their progress reports with guidance from their Research Mentor. As long as the project has not changed from the original research proposal, it is not necessary to provide background or references. If deviation from the original research project is proposed, an explanation is necessary to describe the rationale behind the change. In the case that no new data was obtained over the course of the quarter, an explanation should be included of problems encountered and troubleshooting strategies used.

The following headings should be used for the Progress Report:

  • Specific Goals for previous quarter.
  • Progress Made on Goals (include data in the form of tables and figures)
  • Specific Goals for this quarter.

Have your Research Mentor upload an electronic version of the progress report to the NSF-URM Fellowship myCourses website (under "committees") before noon on the Friday of Week 1.

Please email Dr. Sweet with any questions.
