- What are the dates for the student summer undergraduate research ?
The dates are the 10 weeks of the summer quarter. The current summer quarter dates can be found on the Institute Calendar
- Can I apply for the summer undergraduate research funding if I am graduating this May?
Congratulations on your graduation! Unfortunately graduating students are not eligible. We do wish you the best in your future endeavors.
- The undergraduate research application asks for student and mentor signatures, however the submission is online.
The submission of your faculty support letter is considered their online electronic signature - to be submitted seperately.
Student application and proposal submissions sent to the required email is their online electronic signature.
- I won't be able to present my summer undergraduate research at the Annual Symposium. Can I still apply?
Presenting at the Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium is expected.
- Does the length of the undergraduate research proposal - 1 to 3 pages - include the letter of support?
It does not.
- Does the length of the undergraduate research proposal - 1 - 3 pages - include the bibliography?
It does not.
- My undergraduate research proposal is more than 3 pages, can I still submit it?
While the specific layout is up to you, (EXCEPTION: ALL PROPOSALS MUST BEGIN WITH AN ABSTRACT OF 200 WORDS OR LESS), we suggest the following as a rough guideline. It is expected that the total length of the application will be of the order of 1-3 pages.
- Can I have another on campus job if I am also granted funding?
This research project will be your primary position on the RIT campus for the duration of your Summer Research Proposal commitment. You will not accept or continue to work any additional position during the contracted dates.
- Is it possible to do some/part of the 10 weeks of undergraduate research during other weeks of the summer?
Due to payroll issues research can not begin before June 6, 2011 or extend past Aug. 12, 2011. There will be a payroll meeting for all participating mentors before June 6, 2011.
