Credit by Examination
School of Mathematical Sciences
If you have previously acquired knowledge similar to a mathematics course taught at RIT but did not receive college credit (or AP/CLEP credit), you may be eligible to receive Credit by Examination. You must have the following:
- at least 3.0 GPA to be eligible for credit by examination or permission of the coordinator.
- at least a B or better in the sequential course to be eligible for credit by examination or permission of the coordinator.
- at least 80% of the questions correct to pass.
- You can earn at most 36 credit hours toward your degree with Credit by Exam.
If you meet all of the above requirements, please contact Dr. Michael Radin to schedule an exam and/or with any questions. You must bring a current copy of your transcript prior to scheduling an exam.
Please note that there is a additional cost for every credit going over 20 credits for the quarter the examination is taken.
