The School of Mathematical Sciences
The Mathematical Science Program at RIT offers students opportunities to gain a greater understanding of the world around us as well as prepare for postgraduate research, teaching, or industry employment. The curriculum is structured for both undergraduates and graduate students to learn mathematical principles in Applied and Computational fields, but is flexible enough that students can pursue a variety of combined programs. We also have a strong Applied Statistics major. A solid foundation in mathematics opens up many paths for graduates, including careers in fields as diverse as science, engineering, business, economics, or government.

Students at RIT have the chance to work in both pure and applied mathematics as well as some computer science coursework. A large and talented faculty allows for small class sizes, increased engagement, and the chance to collaborate on research projects. Students can expand their interests by joining piRIT, the Institute's Math Club.
The faculty at RIT are committed to involving both undergraduate and graduate students in their research programs. Students at RIT join research groups as early as their first year. A research opportunity provides an enriching hands-on experience for students that prepares them for their career or further education.
