During the 2007-2008 school year 8,576 alumni gave to RIT, representing 66% of the total 13,000 gifts from all donors, including parents, faculty/staff, students and friends. Here’s a breakdown on how those gifts were put to work for RIT:

• Colleges/academic programs received nearly $1.4 million, which extended faculty/student research grants, equipped labs and classrooms, expanded library acquisitions and degree programs.
• Scholarship funds received nearly $900,000 in support. With 12,000 students who require financial assistance, every dollar counts in helping them complete their RIT education and achieve their career dreams.
• Student services and facilities received nearly $400,000 in gifts – helping us to enhance our student life services and maintain and renovate libraries, archives, buildings, labs and study spaces to fulfill our student-centered directive.
• Endowment Fund giving of nearly $270,000 was invested for the future of RIT.
• Unrestricted giving of just over $226,000 has allowed the university to address its most urgent needs
• Innovation and entrepreneurship programs received nearly $200,000 – to help students and faculty in every college research, discover and create and then showcase their achievements at our “Imagine RIT” Festival last May.
• Athletic teams and the RIT Athletic Association received $135,000 in funding – to help provide training equipment, travel assistance and more for our 575 dedicated student-athletes.
• Student clubs and organizations received nearly $75,000. Currently, there are 128 various student clubs and organizations on campus and they use their financial support to expand their membership and increase the number of programs they offer, which provides students with more creative options as it helps to build a closer community spirit.
