Faculty/Staff Donor Spotlight
Young faculty and staff can make a big difference through giving.
Dan Christner ’07 thought that giving seemed like something older and more successful people were part of. In just a few years of working at RIT, he learned that anyone can make a difference in the RIT community through their giving.
At just 27 years old, he was still a young alumnus, and just beginning his career in Alumni Relations. He had a lot of other demands on his paycheck, and he didn’t think he could afford to make a gift to RIT. But he learned he could make a commitment — and a leadership giving commitment at that — through payroll deduction that didn’t impact his daily activities.
“Without RIT, there is no chance I would be where I am today,” says Dan. “Most of my friends are not where they want to be in their career — they are either unhappy in their jobs, underemployed or unemployed. RIT blessed me with great relationships as a student and now as full-time employee.”
EVERY GIFT helps change a life
While each new school year seems more exciting than the last, the one constant for all faculty and staff members is the pride we take in RIT as we see it - and its students - blossom before our eyes.
As part of the campus community, we also know the value of supporting RIT. Response to our annual Fund for RIT campus campaign continues to grow each year as more of us realize that our gift will:
- Help students stay in school and succeed
- Support a great place to work, learn and grow
- Allow an RIT education to be accessible as well as academically excellent
Annual giving is critical to the life of this university and no matter the amount of the gift, EVERY GIFT COUNTS and directly impacts the lives of our students.
Recently Fiske Guide to Colleges rated RIT as a "Best Buy" school because:
The school is strong in anything related to computing, art and design, and engineering. ... Photography and imaging are among tops in the nation. RIT is devoted to undergraduates."
Devoted. Yes. And changing lives. One by one.
Traditionally, faculty and staff are asked to support the General Scholarship Fund, but of course we may give to our favorite area of RIT. For those of us who are alums as well as a faculty/staff member, our participation in the annual giving campaign will help improve RIT's national ranking and increase the value of every degree.
