Securing funding from top private and family foundations is the goal of the Office of Foundation Relations.
Foundation Relations has partnered with RIT faculty and staff on many major grant efforts including:
- $2.8 Million from the Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation to support research in the Rochester Imaging Detector Laboratory at RIT's Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science
- $2 Million from the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund to support the Center for Telecommunications Innovation and Collaborative Research in the College of Applied Science and Technology
- More than $10 Million from the Nippon Foundation to support NTID's PEN International.
- $1 Million from the Starr Foundation to support the endowed Conable Chair in the College of Liberal Arts
- More than $4 Million from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for the Image Permanence Institute, Center for the Legacy of Photography, School of Print Media, and Munsell Color Science Laboratory
- $2 Million from the Bernard Osher Foundation to endow the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and the Osher-Reentry Scholarship.
- $1 Million from the Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust to endow the Melbert B. Cary Graphic Arts Collection
