RIT is fortunate to have just over 600 scholarship funds currently supporting
thousands of student scholars.
Our scholarship donors often tell us how much it means to them to "connect"
with their recipients - through a thank-you letter or an actual opportunity to
meet. When possible, RIT makes this happen by holding a special
Celebration of Scholarship event.
The most recent Celebration of Scholarship event was in April
2010. Scholarship donors and recipients along with faculty and staff members,
gathered for the primary purpose of making that special connection. The program
is always short, because donors and students truly enjoy getting to know one
another. Often, students bring "conversation starters" (portfolios, scrapbooks,
letters - once even a hand-made shock absorber!) to show their donors how
excited they are about what they are learning and how proud they are to be at RIT.
At the same time, many donors who can't attend take the time to send a letter
and photo to their recipients.
To give you an idea of the connection that goes on when donors and students get
together, we offer our April 2010
Celebration
of Scholarship photo gallery and some
video
"Thank You" notes that recipients prepared for donors who could not attend.
