Philanthropic gifts to RIT can take many forms. Please click on each of the ways listed for details on the different forms your gift can take. All gifts to RIT are tax deductible.
- Outright Gifts
— The simplest type of charitable gift is a gift of cash, generally by check, credit card or debit card. Also, consider donating your car to Insurance Auto Auctions (formerly Charity Fundings) and name RIT as the beneficiary. The university gets the proceeds and you get a charitable deduction. For more information on donating your vehicle, call 585-426-1030.
- Online Giving
— To make a safe and secure online credit card gift 24 hours a day, visit our Online Giving page. It's convenient, quick and eliminates the need for envelopes, stamps or checks. In addition, your gift starts working for RIT right away!
- Planned Giving
— There are many ways to provide for RIT, now or in the future from naming RIT in your Will or Retirement Plan to creating a charitable trust. If you're already considering certain types of gift arrangements, simply click on COMPARE GIFT and select the gift plans that are of interest to you.
- Automatic Contribution Transfer
— or ACT, is RIT's electronic funds transfer program. This program offers you a convenient and secure way to have your gift deducted in regular monthly installments from your checking account. For more information, call us at 585-475-5500 or visit
rit.edu/actnow for an ACT authorization form.
- Matching Gifts
— You can double or triple the value of your gift if you or your spouse work for a matching gift company. Contact your human resources department or visit rit.edu/matchmygift and search our online matching gift clearinghouse to find out if your company has a matching gift program and how to submit an application. RIT gives you credit for both gifts.
- Stock and Special Opportunities
—If you are considering another kind of non-cash gift such as appreciated stock, real estate or a gift-in-kind, call us at 585-475-5500 and we'll be happy to facilitate your gift.
- Payroll Deductions (RIT Employees Only)
—Payroll deduction is an easy way for RIT faculty or staff to give to RIT. You can make a one-time gift and designate when you want the gift to be deducted. Or, you can make a pledge for the year and set up a biweekly or semimonthly payment schedule. You can also choose to make an ongoing gift that will renew automatically each year. To initiate a payroll deduction, all you have to do is fill out a payroll authorization form that sets up the total gift amount and the payment structure you want. RIT and NTID forms in PDF format are available below. Print out the form, complete it, and send it to the Development Office via interoffice mail or U.S. Mail (address below). For more information, call the Office of Development at 585-475-5500.
If you would like to send your gift through the mail, you may download a printable version of our giving form.
