Student giving program shows Tiger Pride growing
RIT's Student Giving Program, which started in the 2006/2007 school year, has continued to grow. Part of the reason for its success is the Student Matching Gift Program, which was started by President Destler and Dr. Rebecca Johnson. They promised a dollar-for-dollar match for each student gift, and soon many more alumni, trustees, faculty/staff members and friends of the university were stepping up to the plate to also help the Student Giving Program stay successful. Right now, just over 465 donors are pledging to match student gifts!
Real Accomplishments!
The idea of student philanthropy is relatively new, but our RIT students know a good thing when they see it! An opportunity to support your favorite are of RIT — and double your dollars — is very appealing. And because student giving enhances what RIT has to offer, it will also help RIT stay on goal toward becoming one of the top universities in the nation.
Student giving makes a difference to RIT in so many ways. As of June 2011, students have contributed just over $136,000! This support has:
- Helped with the renovations on campus, especially the new Campus Center
- Supported hundreds of student and professional clubs, Greek organizations, scholarship funds and athletics
- Allowed students to support their own college or academic program
Students: keep a good thing going! Make your gift before June 30 to ensure it is matched!
