Workshop Description and Goals

 

Attend the 5-day Microsoft Office 2007 workshop July 28 - August 1, 2008, at a cost of $500 at NTID/RIT in Rochester, NY. The workshop will be held daily from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

 

Microsoft Office for Windows is a powerful package of products offering users a wide variety of useful applications for many office computing tasks. This workshop will include a short presentation on each of the four Office programs listed below. Presentations will be followed by participants' hands-on work on computers in the lab. The goal of this workshop is to give participants the opportunity to use Microsoft Office programs and features productively.

 

Topics

  • Using Word to work with text, tables, and graphics.
  • Using Excel to solve basic spreadsheets problems.
  • Using PowerPoint to create presentation slides and slideshows.
  • Using Access for basic database work.
  • Combining and sharing data between Office programs.

Prerequisites

 

Workshop participants should be familiar with personal computers and the Windows operating system.

Karen Beiter – Workshop Leader

Karen Beiter is an Assistant Professor and a deaf faculty member in the Information and Computing Studies department at Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf. She has been teaching for over 8 years. Karen has both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Computer Science from RIT. Before joining the NTID faculty she worked for several companies as a computer programmer/systems analyst including working at the Eastman Kodak Company for 13 years.
