Bern’s Closet a Brilliant Success!
As a way to commemorate Bernadette Lynch’s innate desire to help students to be prepared, polished, presentable and empowered for the RIT career fair, our 4th annual career clothing drive was renamed, Bern’s Closet. Last year, Bern was keen on sharing that “not all students have the ability to just go and buy a new outfit for an interview! We’ve created a tradition, set an expectation, but we couldn’t do it without the support of our volunteers and donors,” said with immense gratitude. Her words will remain as part of this event at RIT for many more years to come and allow student to feel inspired to conquer the fears and nail their interviews during the RIT Career Fair!
Bern’s Closet offered students much needed clothing items, generously donated by RIT staff, faculty and Greater Rochester community members. Again, this year, during Bern’s Closet students asked staff and volunteers for a little advice to help match their outfits or pick the “right” jacket or the “right” slacks. Bern’s Closet’s goal is for students to leave with an entire outfit or items to spruce-up something they already own, at no cost. As promised, I’m First staff and volunteers outshined again this semester by keeping their commitment to offering all students on campus with a winning look!
The Division of Diversity and Inclusion will have another Bern’s Closet for the Spring semester, so look out for the announcements on how you can continue to support our students in Spring 2018!
