Excellence Though Diversity, Journey to Greatness: Doing it the RIT Way

RIT recognizes that intellectual and social diversity enriches our student’s experiential learning to meet the demands of future careers in the complex global economy.  RIT’s commitment to enhancing faculty diversity began in 2002 with the creation of the Office of Faculty Recruitment. 

The office focuses on assisting Deans and search committees in enhancing the diversity of applicant pools for faculty positions.  To attract underserved populations such as African American, Latina/o American, and Native American (AALANA) and women scholars, the Office of Faculty Recruitment has implemented strategic programs:

Job Referral Database:

The office maintains a database of AALANA and women Post Doctoral, PhD and MFA scholars who are interested in a potential faculty careers with RIT.  Individuals who join our database are sent regular communications from our office on relevant position openings. Join our database! (

Future Faculty Career Exploration Program

This intensive three-day program is the cornerstone of our recruitment strategy, and is critical to the success of RIT’s diversity goals.  Through a competitive application process RIT selects doctoral and MFA scholars to experience RIT as a prospective faculty member. Activities include exploratory discussions, networking events, presentation of scholar’s research, and tours of facilities. Learn more about the program.  (
