TRiO Student Support Services

Mission

TRiO Student Support Services, federally funded through the Department of Education, serves participants who are academically at-risk, low income, first generation college students and/or students with disabilities. We foster participants’ academic success by encouraging potential and providing services and advocacy in a caring and supportive environment.

TRiO SSS has been part of RIT since 1972. Membership increases overall academic standing, retention and graduation rates of participants. We are a comprehensive program which serves students until graduation.  Targeted services to our members include: academic support services, free tutoring in most courses, one-on-one assistance in all the aspects of navigating college life, career / co-op advising, financial literacy education and financial aid education, peer mentoring, and cultural enrichment.  Individualized plans of support are developed and address all required areas of service.
