About the English Language Center (ELC)

The English Language Center offers a comprehensive training program prior to admission to the university. Because English is the language of instruction, students applying to RIT Dubai must meet the requirements outlined by the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research. It is the aim of the ELC to help students improve their English language skills to meet these requirements.

Our English classes are open to all interested students. If you would like to improve your English but not pursue a degree, then the ELC can still help you achieve your goals.

There are evening and weekend exam preparation programs for paper based TOEFL and IELTS exams.

The ELC also has evening classes available for those who work full time during the day and wish to only improve their English. These classes are not for those seeking a degree. Class dates are flexible, and classes begin at 18:00. Transportation is available for limited areas.

The ELC also offers training for professional programs and soft skills training for companies and organizations. The faculty has extensive experience in teaching English to adult students in the region.

Student-Centeredness

The English Language Center follows the Rochester Institute of Technology New York in having student-centeredness as our core value both inside and outside the classroom.

The ELC Orientation program covers health, immigration, academics, and cultural adaptation.

  • Advisors to help students with academic and personal concerns, housing, and university admission.
  • On campus student health center and counseling services available for students.
  • Trips around Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other areas of the United Arab Emirates to experience all the country has to offer.
  • Student organizations focusing on ethnic, cultural, social affinities.
