ABOUT MARKETING

Organizations rely on marketing to produce the sales that every organization needs to thrive. However, Marketing is more than selling. Marketing makes sales easy by developing the perfect Marketing mix of product, pricing, promotion and distribution for its carefully-chosen target customers. Professionals in marketing need good communication skills, written and verbal, must enjoy working with people and, increasingly, must be able make real-time decisions based on statistical data analysis. PROGRAM OVERVIEW

RIT’s Marketing program will guide your progress toward becoming an Internet Marketing professional. After Marekting Principles where you will learn the basics, it continues with a course in Integrated Marketing Communication where you will learn to weave Internet Marketing into the company’s traditional promotion mix. It then continues with an overview course, Internet Marketing, before continuing with Social Media Marketing and Search Engine Marketing. You will then develop your strategic vision with Marketing Strategy and Marketing Research. Together with RIT’s emphasis on great writing writing, (RIT’s writing professors are excellent) and our famous internships (we call them coops) and electives such as Webpage Design, Professional Selling and Negotiation, these courses will turn you into a solid Internet Marketing professional that can both develop a strategic plan and execute the details. You are also required to take a minor such Digital Business, Finance and Management to broaden your knowledge.

Learning in the marketing major is extremely practical and applied. Students learn the Marketing process, terminology and vocabulary in Marketing Principles by analyzing ten cases and producing a Marketing plan. Team projects in Advertising and Promotion, Global Marketing and Marketing Research all require students to develop the same plans that the best companies really use. Social Media Marketing and Search Engine Marketing prepare students for Facebook and Google certifications and allow students to build and apply their skills with realistic simulations. Marketing Strategy uses the famous Markstrat simulation as the top MBA’s along with numerous case analyses to not only build analytical skills but to turn the analyses into plans.

ACCREDITATION

RIT is ranked in the top 2% of American Universities. The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - Marketing program is an American degree issued by RIT’s New York campus. It is indistinguishable from the degree emitted by the main campus and there is no mention of Dubai on either the diploma or on the transcripts. In addition, it is accredited by the Ministry of Education – Higher Education Affairs (MOE-HEA) and is licensed by the KHDA. The program is one of only three business programs in Dubai accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
 

POSSIBLE CAREER OPTIONS

A career in marketing can take a student in different directions such as advertising, market research or brand management. However, in Dubai, the most common and attractive alternative for Marketers is internet marketing along with its components: social media marketing, content marketing and search engine marketing. There is not only a high demand for qualified applicants in these professions but those with well-developed strategic vision can expect rewarding career paths. The Marketing major also supports students that aim at more traditional Marketing careers, including professional selling, advertising, brand management and marketing research. Although these careers are less common in Dubai than elsewhere, they do exist.
