Dubai, 13 September 2017: Rochester Institute of Technology’s Dubai campus (RIT Dubai) had reason to celebrate this week after the prestigious U.S News and World Report recognized the New York based university as one of America’s top 100 universities in their annual rankings.
Jumping ten places from last year, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) was acknowledged for its rapid increase in research and Ph.D. graduates and ranked 97th out of 311 universities graded in the “National Universities” category, which includes some of the U.S’s best known colleges and universities. The university was also voted one of “High School Counselors’ Top College Picks.” Furthermore, RIT was recognized as being one of the top 20 universities for developing programs that encourage students to apply what they’re learning in the classroom to work in the real world, paying homage to RIT’s unique cooperative internship program which last year saw more than 4,400 students from RIT’s campuses globally completing 6,000 work assignments with nearly 2,300 employers around the world.
RIT’s Kate Gleeson College of Engineering and Saunders College of Business, which both offer a wide range of Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at RIT Dubai, were also acknowledged in the rankings as some of the U.S.’s top specialist colleges. Kate Gleeson College of Engineering tied for 61st position for engineering college programs where the highest degree is a doctorate, whilst the undergraduate business programs from Saunders College of Business tied for 64th place.
Celebrating the news, Dr. Yousef Al Assaf, President of RIT Dubai said: “The results of these rankings are a testament to the hard work of faculty, staff and students at RIT’s campuses globally who strive to push boundaries daily. It is an honor to be able to offer our students in the UAE nationally accredited, internationally recognized degree programs which reflect the high quality standards of our New York campus and enable them to study abroad at one of the U.S’s top universities.”
Dr. David Egleston, RIT Dubai’s Division Chair – Business and Management, added: “According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) there are over 5,000 degree granting colleges and universities in the U.S., which places the degree programs and experience offered at RIT in the top 1 per cent. These rankings mark a key milestone in the university’s history.”
RIT President David Munson concluded: “This ranking affirms what I’ve been saying all along: RIT is on a steep trajectory from greatness to preeminence. I’m very proud of everything our students, faculty and staff have done to help us achieve this milestone recognition, making us one of the top few universities that is working at the intersection of technology, the arts and design.”
