MULTIBAND PLANAR BRANCHED MONOPOLE ANTENNA FOR GSM/GPS/WLAN/WIMAX APPLICATIONS - Monday, June 23rd

Speakers:  Dr. Boutheina Tlili

 

One of the main challenges of the multiple application system is the design of a multiband antenna. Mobile devices these days are required to operate in multi-frequency bands. Moreover due to the preference of smaller devices, it is necessary for an internal antenna to be multiband as well as physically small.

In this workshop the design of a planar microstrip line fed branched monopole antenna that will work at different frequencies bands covering GSM900MHz, Z-Wave (868.42MHz, 908.42MHz), GPS (1575MHz), DCS1800MHz, PCS1900MHz, WLAN 2.4/5.2/5.8GHz, Zigbee (2.4GHz), WiMAX 2.5/3.5/5.5GHz will be explained. Monopoles are first designed for individual frequency and are then combined   to form a multiband antenna. The microstrip technology is used for achieving low cost antenna because of its advantages such as low-cost, small size, low weight and capacity to integrate with microwave integrated circuits.   Some antenna theory will be explained first.

EFFECTIVE CONTROL OF FAHU: FRESH AIR HANDLING UNIT- Monday, June 23rd

General practice uses fresh air supply temperature as the control objective of fresh air handling units. Over the course of 45 minutes, we will discuss the pros and cons of this practice and propose the best control strategies in different design scenarios.

 

NETWORKING IN THE CONTEXT OF CLOUD AND MOBILE COMPUTING - Wednesday, June 25th

The field of computing has evolved to a great extent. The maturity of enterprise systems and the various standards that formalized its architecture have led to serious evolution to some traditional computing fields like Networking and also have given birth to several new areas like Cloud and mobile computing.

In this workshop, Dr. Khalid and Dr. Raza will first discuss this standard enterprise architecture and its various pieces that have become standard material in college Computer Science programs. The explosive growth in data traffic and the move of voice from circuit switching to packet switching means that IP is poised to form the basis of all new services in the future. They will look at the evolution of voice from traditional circuit switching to voice over IP and the carrier transport technologies that have evolved to provide the convergence needed for service providers such as mobile operators and internet service providers.

MARKETING IN THE CROSS-CULTURAL ENVIROMENT Thursday, June 26th

Globalization along with cross-culturalization is an inevitable process in the 21st century and we must understand that the differences among regions, nations, languages religions, etc in terms of cultural still deeply exits in the global markets and also have a huge influence on the business practices of the multinational companies. Therefore, it is very important for the managers to understand that the foreign markets in the 21st century are the cross-cultural markets. Dr. Rizwan will guide participants to apply the marketing mix correctly to the consumer preferences, buying behavior and product-use pattern in global markets.
