Rochester Institute of Technology will host an academic/industry symposium featuring the latest advancements in fuel-cell technology and business development.

The Forum for University and Energy Leaders, or FUEL, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 3 in RIT’s Center for Student Innovation. The event includes a keynote address by Hubert Gasteiger, professor of chemistry at the Technical University of Munich, and research presentations by RIT faculty and students on the latest in fuel-cell mechanics, chemistry and commercialization.

It concludes with an expert panel moderated by Matthew Fronk, former chief fuel-cell engineer for General Motors, and featuring state Assemblyman Joseph Morelle and experts from Delphi Inc., General Motors and The Raymond Corp.

“By enhancing the development of the necessary technologies, business practices and public policies, we can assist in ensuring the widespread adoption of fuel-cell systems,” notes Donald Boyd, vice president of research at RIT. “FUEL brings together experts from industry and academia to share recent breakthroughs and identify critical needs to advance fuel cell development at all levels.”

FUEL is sponsored by RIT’s Office of Research and Golisano Institute for Sustainability.
