Be Inspired

Don’t be defeated. Be inspired.

There’s going to be many road blocks that come your way. It’s seeing the road block as an opportunity of improvement rather than defeat that will put you in the right direction. Learning how to improve now will set you up to be very successful in the future.  You would rather learn what your strengths and weaknesses are now while you’re still learning then after you have graduated and are in your fulltime roll. Right now is the time to focus, learn, and have a positive attitude with everything you do. In the end you are becoming stronger and learning more about yourself.

“In your thoughts rise above the problem so that you look down upon it, not up at it” –David Peale

My mentors at my current co-op at Neutrogena gave me some tips that they thought would be good for others to know so I wanted to share!

1. Identify three leaders at the company you are interested in working at or area of expertise you desire to be in. Look at what career decisions they made that lead them to the position they are in today. When you are stuck on trying to make a career decision you can think about what they would have done to line yourself up for success.

 2. The work you do should deliver results to your boss and team but most importantly to other departments.

 3. Take risks with career opportunities.  Even if you think you may not like the specific roll there’s a chance that you could love it.

 4. Decide or imagine on where you want to be in the next 2 to 5 years and make your life decisions based on that to line you up for success.

“The secret of a better and more successful life is to cast out those old, dead, unhealthy thoughts. Substitute for them new, vital, dynamic faith thoughts.” - David Peale

I hope you feel inspired!
