There are a lot of options for the person that loves coffee and/or tea here at RIT! RIT currently has 5 different coffee shops on campus: Midnight Oil, The College Grind, Artesano Bakery and Cafe, Beanz, and Java Wally’s. Artesano Bakery and Café is located in Monroe Hall. It has an on-campus patisserie offering a wide selection of pastries such as pies, muffins, brownies, cookies, tarts, and breads. Artesano, which is the Spanish word for artisan, also serves Peet’s Coffee and Tea. Peet’s is an organic coffee company based in California, and Artesano offers blended frozen drinks, espresso, lattes, and cappuccinos made from Peet’s products. Artesano also has seasonal drinks such as hot chocolate and hot apple cider. Artesano is decorated with artwork pulled from the RIT archives to give it a unique atmosphere.
Beanz is located in Grace Watson Hall (on the residential side of campus) and serves coffee beverages made from Finger Lakes Coffee, a local coffee company from Rochester, Freshens smoothies, Sicilian sodas, teas, and hot chocolate. There are also baked goods and desserts offered such as paninis, sandwiches and salads.
The College Grind is located in the Center for Student Development and offers a variety of Starbucks brewed and frozen beverages. There is also a selection of sandwiches made in-house, an assortment of baked goods, cold drinks, and Freshens smoothies.
Midnight Oil is located within Crossroads and is the newest coffee shop on campus, open every day until midnight. Midnight Oil offers hot and iced Starbucks coffee beverages, seasonal and specialty beverages such as Italian sodas and chai, sandwiches, and freshly baked pastries and cakes.
Java Wally’s is located inside Wallace Library. It accepts Tigerbucks, cash, or credit/debit cards. It is a franchise location of the original Java’s, which is located in downtown Rochester. Java Wally’s offers fresh gourmet coffee, team smoothies, lemonade, and snacks (their cookies are my favorite!) Java Wally’s is decorated with artwork made by RIT students and faculty, and also local artists from around Rochester.
No matter what coffee shop you try, you're bound to get your caffeine fix at RIT for your late night studying!
