Do I need a computer on campus?
The question of "do
i need a computer?" is a very, very common question on tours, and the
answer is NO! There are over 1500 student use computers in the Golisano
College of Computing and Information Sciences, and hundred of computers
in the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, not to mention the other
large amounts of computers spread across campus. There are a total of
22 labs spread across campus, and a lot of them are open 24 hours.
There are Macs and PC's spread out all around, and the computer labs
are not just on the academic side, so you do not have to get out of
your cozy slippers in order to do work.
I never truly appreciated this fact, until just recently when my computer sadly had to be shipped out to Apple and I was told it was going to be gone for plus 10 days....I just got an email they are waiting for a part to come in... EWWW! But none-the-less when I realized my computer was no longer doing it's job, it was the beginning of week 5, midterms. The second worst time for my computer to die. So I was planning my schedule around the lab times and spending more of my life on campus (I live off campus). But the amount of labs and their hours posed this situation very easily to deal with!
So no you do not need a computer!
(If you are lucky like me, perhaps your parents will ship you out their computer till you get yours back.... but don't count on it! (Thanks Mom and Dad))
To all ambassadors reading this good luck in week 6!
To all prospective students, or ACCEPTED ED students congratulations, and good luck!
