Greek Photo Review

Alissa Anderson on Friday, 01 July 2011. Posted in Academic Calendar, Clubs, Community Service, Fraternity / Sorority Life, Life After RIT, Residence Life, Women at RIT

The RIT Greek Office just announced via Facebook that they are collecting photos from chapters on campus in support of a new recruitment campaign set to debut this fall.

As I flip through my photo collections I find myself (1) very thankful for the chapter Photo Chair and (2) reminiscing in the events of years past. I’ve posted a few of the highlights below – feel free to check them out and comment – and if you are fresh on campus this fall, keep an eye out for the completed project.

MUDTUG Dog Pile: Saturday September 24th marks the date for the annual Zeta Tau Alpha & Phi Kappa Psi MUDTUG event. Held on the lawn behind Gracies, MUDTUG is a typical college activity – and one that should be on your bucket list for graduation. Thousands of students, faculty, and persons from the community turn out for this event and GET DIRTY watching teams (sports teams, floor teams, Greek Teams, work teams, etc) compete for the ultimate prize: ((Bragging Rights of course!))

THANKSGIVING: The final Friday of Fall quarter ZTA and Tau Kappa Epsilon gathered for a pot-luck style Thanksgiving feast to break the finals week stress.

BIDDAY: Week Two is recruitment week for all Greek chapters on campus – for sororities, the week culminates with “BidDay” where potential new members are given invitations to join the various houses on campus. Below I am pictures with a portion of our fall 2010 class.

BLACK OUT HEART DISEASE: Breaking the record for attendance at a RIT Women’s Hockey Game, and raising scores of money for Heart Disease sisters gave back to the community by working with RIT Women’s Hockey at the “Black Out Heart Disease” game.

SERENADE: Winter is also the season for one of the more “sorority” events in our Greek system – the winter serenade. In out chapter, sisters travel from fraternity to fraternity singing (and signing) holiday songs.

THINK PINK WEEK: Spring Quarter is the time for the ZTA annual “Think Pink Week”, as a chapter we paint the campus pink, and out pink ribbons, and host pink events (yogurt eating contest, open mic night, etc) to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness.

SISTERHOOD: I will close this post with one of my favorite photos from the year. I will admit, some of my greatest memories are from the events I participate in annually… but some of the BEST moments are the candid shots from pure sisterhood activities. Above sisters exchange matching sets of letters.
