Hockey Dedication!
So hockey tickets went on sale for the big game against
Wisconsin in Denver yesterday, the 1st, at seven in the morning. I definitely
wanted to be one of the first in line so I heard about a few people that were
going in line that night so I thought I would do the same thing. I got to the
box office around 11:30 on Wednesday night, the 31st, and what I thought would
be about 10 or 15 people in front of me ended up being about 70 or 80 people. I
guess a lot of people also got the memo of the box office sleepover. RIT had
600 tickets for the game but there were only three buses that were heading to
Denver and I needed to be on one of those buses! More and more people were
getting in line and at about one in the morning, someone counted about 200
people in line. I had my laptop, and a bunch of snacks to keep myself busy
while in line and luckily, RIT has Wi-Fi all over campus so I was able to keep
my facebook up to date. There were news stations coming in and out, talking to
people in line and at about 5:30, I think there were a total of five different
news stations that were at the box office.
Finally, 6:50 came around and they opened the box office windows. There were
about 80 people in front of and I had class at 8am, so I was thinking I would
be fine by that time but at ten of eight, they had only processed 25
transactions and I had a test in that class I needed to be at. I was with two
friends of mine and I asked them to hold my spot while I ran to class. I sat
down and started my test but I had such a hard time focusing because I knew
that I would be cutting it close.
At 9 o’clock I finished the test. I looked at my phone and had three text
messages telling me to hurry up because they were getting closer and closer to
the front. I started to sprint back to the box office and as I got back, my
friends were next in line and I was so relieved I made it right on time. I got
my tickets for the semi final game and the championship game and the spot on
the bus! Even though I got no sleep the whole night and I had a full day of
classes and work on that day, I know it will be worth it come game day!!!
