  hi! im enjoying reading your blogs - im a high school junior on the college hunt. i was wondering what year of college your in, and also, what's your opinion of RIT? :D

  thanks! glad you found the blogs :) i'm currently a sophomore graphic design major. I really like it here, it's a good mix between art and everything else. when I was first looking at schools I decided that I didn't want to go for a strictly art school just because i wanted to be able to explore other things (i have a double minor in journalism and advertising & public relations). there is so much to do on campus and to get involved with as well outside of traditional classes. i'm sure you've seen my multiple posts about hockey by now, just to name one thing :)

  im looking at majoring in animation, so im glad to hear that theres a good mix of art :)
  
  so there is double majoring? i dont want to go to a strictly art school either, because i feel like i should be more....well-rounded i guess is a good way to put it.
  
  i was thinking of doubling in psychology or creative writing.
  
  i dont suppose you know anything about internships and the such? prefferably art related :o

  ooh, film & animation is a popular major. it is possible to double major but it depends on what you're trying to do. i'm almost certain that you can't double major with something like animation just because of how time consuming it is (unless you want to stay an extra few years :) ). something like creative writing & psychology might be possible together.
  
  if you're interested in animation/design you should take a look at the new media design major it's a pretty cool combination major that is not offered very many places.
  
  there is always the option to minor. like i was talking about before i have a double minor in journalism and APR which allows me to branch out more. i also am doing a concentration in american sign language-- a concentration is like a minor but less classes :)
  
  internships and co-ops are available for art related majors but it depends on the major. things like print media have a required co-op which means you will be going into the field and working for a set amount of time while getting paid. it's a great opportunity to see if you're in the right major! and to get work experience. a lot of times the co-op will turn into a job after college if the fit with the company is right.
  
  for majors such as mine, graphic design, we do not have a requirement for co-ops but a lot of people choose to find their own internships.
