Journey of Hope - Pi Kappa Phi

Besides those of us on co-op this summer, other RIT students are making huge impacts on society this summer. For Pi Kappa Phi brother TJ Rogers, he has decided to spend his summer break biking cross-country in support of his fraternities national philanthropy.

The Pi Kappa Phi national philanthropy is Push America, anon-profit organization (founded by Pi Kappa Phi brothers) supporting people with disabilities through their mission of “Building leaders of tomorrow by serving people with disabilities today.”

Through Push America, brothers nation-wide participate in “Journey of Hope.” JOH is a summer event in which brothers ride bikes cross-country covering 32 states and twelve thousand miles combined.

TJ Rogers, a Pi Kappa Phi founding father at RIT, started his trek a few weeks ago in Seattle, Washington and will finish his 4000 mileride 67 days later on August 14th in Washington, D.C. where he willbe joined by the hundreds of other brothers riding from various locations.

Today I received a photo update from the trail. The boyshave stopped for the day in Utah. TJ stands with a Zeta Tau Alpha “Think Pink”t-shirt that my sisters signed for his adventures.

"Hey Ali and all reading this, we are currently in delta, Utah. Today was a long ride for the guys and it was a long day for the crew, the temperature went from about 50 in the morning to about 102 in the afternoon. Today was a big day too, we not only crossed from Nevada to Utah, but also from pacific to mountain time. We are staying in the delta high gym or arena as it is labeled, its almost a college level arena. John is doing really well on the bike and in doing well with making sure that he gets to where he needs to be safe and sound." -TJ Rogers
