Ok, so basically I have a co-op this summer in Miami, FLthat I got through RIT’s Student Co-Op Office, which is absolutely amazing bythe way!
My co-op is with Burger King Incorp. (Yes I will be workingfor THE Burger King!) and it gets even better; they are giving me a housingstipend so I can live where I want in the City of Miami. So I figured I wouldtake advantage of the opportunity to live in Miami over the summer, so I got astudio apartment in South Beach, FL! I am so excited but it’s not going to befun and parties the whole time I’m there. I am also taking 2 summer courseswhile I am working over 40 hours a week at BK. But, that doesn’t mean I can’tenjoy South Beach living and possibly meet a few celebrities along the way!
Ok, so now down to the nitty-gritty. I am a PackagingScience major at RIT and yes I do design more then just boxes. For my co-op Iam working in BK’s Global Operation’s Department for Sustainability; my maintask is to make BK’s to go containers more environmentally friendly such asbeing biodegradable and easily recyclable. The main reason I have this task is because the Seattle,Washington passed a law that all restaurant to go containers must be recycledor biodegrade in less then 80 days and normally it’s within 160 days.
I will be driving from Erie, PA to Miami, FL (which is about23ish hours) and then start my first day of work on June 1st.
Wish me luck!
Hopefully the traffic and the heat/humidity aren’t too awful.
