Patterns and Food
I've been in WI for the last week, hence my absence from the site. Please pretend you missed me?
(if you hate/loathe math, I suggest you skip this paragraph)
Anyway, I'm all excited, 'cause tomorrow is 7-7-7. And I have this thing for number patterns. I like playing around with dates and noting auspicious number pattern dates on the calendar. Ex: on January 1st, 2002, the date was 1-1-2, which is the first three numbers of a Fibonocci sequence. Today is obviously really cool, because the numbers are all the same and prime. My favorite date pattern though, is when you have the month and the day as factors that multiply to make the year, like 02-05-10. Granted, this doesn't work if you're European, but hey. I also make patterns with the numbers on the clock. My family (and most of my friends) think I'm absolutely nuts, but this is coming from the girl who celebrates Pi Day. And Mole Day. What'd they expect?
For all you math haters out there, in other news, I'm going to the Taste of Chicago this weekend. The Taste of Chicago is the world's largest food event, and a large portion of downtown is closed off for over 200 resturants to set up their various fares. It's reasonably priced, and probably the only chance I'll ever get to eat some of the more bizarre items. We're known here in Chicago for our pizza and hot dogs, but I'm anticipating some slightly more...shall we say, appetizing fare? So if you're bored and hungry, come join our eating festivites downtown!
