I knew RIT was the school for me during my first tour of campus. Though I would highly recommend visiting campus for yourself, I get that sometimes it's just not feasible to make a trip to Rochester. Luckily, we have some alternative ways for you to learn more about RIT close to home. Fall is right around the corner and our admissions counselors are hitting the road! Every year, our counselors travel all over the country for hometown interviews, information sessions, and college fairs.
What do these visits entail?
Hometown interviews are one of the several events held in cities around the country. Our interviews are informational and offer a great opportunity for students to speak directly to an admissions counselor. Hometown interviews can be expected to last 30 minutes and I would recommend bringing an activities resume, test scores, and unofficial transcript, though these items are not required. It is worth noting that an interview is not required for the admissions application process, but it is still a great way to get to know more about RIT.

Information Sessions and Receptions
Whether you are looking to enter your freshman year of college or transferring from another school, all prospective students (and families) are welcome to attend Information Sessions. These are often held at hotels in various areas of the country. Like the information sessions held on campus in our office, the admissions staff will cover topics such as academic programs, admissions requirements, application process, student life, housing, clubs, athletics, experiential learning, and more.

College Fairs, School Visits, and Portfolio Days
In addition to hosting hometown interviews and information sessions, our admissions staff will be attending college fairs and visiting local schools. Back when I was in high school, I remember attending a college fair in our gym. RIT was one of the colleges I talked to, and it really sparked my interest.
This fall, our counselors are planning school visits and trips to college fairs in over 30 states. Some of our Imaging Arts & Sciences faculty members may also be attending National Portfolio Day events, where prospective artists can come to have their portfolios reviewed. Whether you're on the east coast or the west coast (or somewhere in between), check the list of events to see if RIT will be at a school/town near you!
We hope to see you at our off campus events! If you have more questions about RIT, you can always reach out to our office. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates from our staff as well as information about campus and student life as a whole. Good luck with your college search!
